Throughout the process there are numerous checks to ensure that the assessments are fair, valid, and reliable.

Process: 

• Review learning outcomes and define the assessment objective
• Select appropriate assessment
• Write and review questions for the assessment
• Pretest to ensure questions are of the correct difficulty
• Detect and remove unfair questions that may be ambiguous or misleading
• Assemble test and marking scheme
• Trial run of full test
