Course Content
Participants will engage in comprehensive modules covering:
- Site Safety and Legislation: Understanding workplace obligations, safety protocols, and relevant legislation.
- Accident Reporting and Prevention: Learning to identify, report, and prevent workplace hazards.
- Working at Heights: Ensuring safe practices when operating above ground level.
- Excavations and Confined Spaces: Recognizing risks and implementing precautionary measures.
- Electrical Safety: Reducing hazards associated with electrical work, including underground and overhead services.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Understanding proper use to minimize risks.
- Use of Handheld Equipment and Tools: Enhancing safety while operating machinery.
- Safe Use of Vehicles: Promoting safe driving practices on construction sites.
- Noise and Vibrations: Addressing risks to prevent long-term health issues.
- Manual Handling: Learning safe techniques to reduce injuries.
- Health and Hygiene: Maintaining workplace cleanliness and reducing exposure to health risks.
- Promoting a Safety Culture: Encouraging teamwork and responsibility for safety.
These modules align with the standard curriculum outlined by SOLAS.

The Safe Pass / Safety Awareness Programme applies to various groups of workers. Specifically, it includes:
- Craft and general construction workers who operate on-site.
- Persons undertaking on-site security work, ensuring they meet safety standards.
- Other individuals or groups as prescribed by the Minister.
Furthermore, the Health and Safety Authority, in collaboration with the Construction Advisory Committee, has developed a summary outlining the categories of individuals to whom Safe Pass does and does not apply.

This course is classroom-based and instructor-led. Additionally, there is a written exam as well as a skills assessment to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of participants.

Entry Requirements
- Minimum Age: Attendees must be at least 18 years old.
- Identification: A valid photo ID (e.g., passport or driving license) is required.
- PPS Number: Participants should provide their Personal Public Service number.
- Photograph: One passport-sized photograph for the Safe Pass card.
Assessment and Certification
Member must attend the full day and successfully complete assessments to receive the SOLAS Safe Pass card, valid for four years.
